ART CONTEST 

Contest Rules

Get Inspired. Share Your Art.

 

The Department of Modern Languages is pleased to announce a campus-wide art contest dedicated to Cervantes and Don Quixote. The competition is sponsored by the Spanish Club, and will culminate in public voting. Awards will be granted to the best in each of these three categories:

 

  • WRITTEN WORD: original works of literature, such as poems, essays, short stories or other creative pieces;

  • VISUAL ARTS: paintings, sketches, sculptures, mosaics, collages, or other pieces in different mediums;

  • PERFORMANCE ART: musical performances, short films, videos or short theatrical performances.

 

The competition is open to all. Entries must follow the contest theme, and should be available in electronic format (.jpg, .doc, .docx, .pdf, video links) to be included for public voting. Physical objects will be housed at the Department of Modern Languages, 360 Plaza. Submission deadline is April 17, 2015. Prizes will be awarded on May 4, 2015.

You can participate as an individual or as a team. If you would like to pair up with a group, please e-mail the organizers, and we will do our best to help you find collaborators.

The gallery on this page displays objects created by MDL students. 

Your Creations

All submissions should be accessible electronically:

 

  • literary submissions should be in .doc, .docx or .pdf format;

 

  • performance pieces must be filmed, uploaded to a site such as YouTube, and the link mailed to the organizers;

 

  • if you are participating with art pieces, please take photographs or short videos (up to 1 minute), and e-mail the pictures or video links to the organizers. Submit the actual pieces to the Department of MDL, Plaza 360 - they will be displayed at the Awards Ceremony on May 4.
